Nothing, he already stipulated that it's parent-funded earlier in the thread.

Yeah sorry I couldn't be sifting through 7 pages of parts and re tunes. I said I'm interested in the results due to the 371 being a fairly solid result, but a bit of a carrot.

Hope to see it improve else maybe time to let the rents know they're due a rebuild soon, so many retunes can't be good for it.

Not true rich. You need heat in the headers and exhaust housing to get them to flow well. My car went 220hpish on first pull then straight away next pull went 270hp. Sean said its coz of there being no heat in the headers and ex housing. These are water cooler turbos too so the water keeps flowing through after shut down.

Fair enough! If it works keen for the beanie as well. Understand the heat/flow side of it which is a big benefit. That was where the ceramic coating inside/outside would have been better than it stewing in it's own juices once the motor was off.

I thought, in terms of water keeps flowing, how does that happen when the drive belts are off and the water pump is not turning? Water flow would cease?

By Garrett.

How does water-cooling work? - The physical process of turbocharger water-cooling is an interesting one, and works in a different way than what might seem obvious. It is true that during normal engine operation water flows through the turbocharger mostly due to pressure created by the engine’s water pump. However, an additional phenomenon known as “thermal siphoning” pulls water through the turbo’s center housing if the water lines are properly routed, even after the engine is shut off and the water pump is no longer pumping.

Water cavity completely surrounds ball bearing cartridge and has a port on either side for water inlet & outlet.

Heat in the center housing is transferred to the water via conduction, like the cooling effect that occurs inside a typical water-cooled engine (with a water jacket surrounding each cylinder and running through the cylinder head). If the water running through a turbocharger is allowed to escape freely after absorbing heat, it will rise through the cooling system pulling cooler water into the turbocharger along with it. In this way the intense heat that has soaked back into the turbo after engine shutdown is wicked away from the bearings and seals, and prevented from causing serious damage without assistance from the engine’s water pump.

Well i feel we've all learnt something about the thermodynamics of our turbocharged engines today. Everyone give themselves a pat on the back

Got the car back, its so hot today, but still achieved 355 whp at 1.6 bar, its on the edge of waste gate duty cycle. And im not gonna run that kind of pressure as daily anyway.

Car is mighty quick but with some more lag.only drove on 1 bar yet, it feels as quick as 1.4 bar before the new turbo. Afr was 10.5 on one bar. Will drive a bit more to test different boost.
