The way Ive seen people do it is to use old gas cylinders. They put engine oil inside, have a hose, valve and oil pressure guage coming out of it, with a fitting that can screw it into the oil pressure switch hole in the engine. The cylinder also has an air tool fitting and valve on the entry. They then pressurize the cylinder with compressed air and open the valve. This forces oil through the system before start up. You close the valve, but leave the device screwed into the engine for initial start up, so you can then watch the attached oil pressure gauge to ensure good oil pressure.
Ive seen a few places use this type of tool from places that build industrial engines to performance engines. Im sure Stechnic have one ( or a variation of it ). The location of the oil switch / rear gallerey plug on a Subaru isnt as easy as most other engines, but Its not too bad to get too, when compared to the work of doing an engine. Dont know what the tools are called, but its a bloody good way of doing it.

Finally finished the break in, limited to 4000rpm, boost, engine braking......
Mao was gonna tune it on E85 today, but by the time 98 base tune is finished, its already 9pm... The only two differences separate current setup with the old one: HKS SSQV and colder intake temp. here r the dyno graph @ 1.37 bar, it made 342whp and 450nm torque.

Torque falls off at 4600rpm. Is that the turbo running out of puff? Do you have a graph with the maf?
You running speed density again?

Much better looking curve than what is usually spat out from there. AFR chart would be good.

What a day......
E85 is put in, filter changed, went on dyno, hit 5000rpm, annnd fuel cut!!!! Still trying to figure out the problem, so car won't be back tonight. It made 370whp at 1.3 bar at that point with no further timing added... so should be good once the fuel cut is fixed. using the Perth-WRX mobile app

Did you manage to identify the issue?
Cars....all the time and money put into making it more like you want...building excitement and anxiety towards the day that it is completed....only to encounter teething problems. I am only just over a week away from living the same dream/nightmare. Best of luck. Can't wait to see the numbers and hear of the fun factor. |
