The cage is looking great, i for one am looking forward to seeing it done and racing, as the ole tale says good things take time

Will you resort to engine building/CNC/CDB work over east ?

I will probably have to have the CNC work done (again) over east. The existing CNC work done in Perth looked absolutely amazing. But the delays and damage that came with it was unbearable. It is a real shame, as it would be nice to have a reliable CNC option here in state.

Only thing Im a bit questionable about is my welds. And the brace between the main loop and the lateral side loops. The book says cannot be placed more that half the member length. And if you measure mine on the INSIDE of the member length, to the INSIDE of the next node, then its a fraction over half way. But if you measure CENTERLINE of the tube to CENTERLINE to CENTERLINE of the main hoop, then its ok. The guidelines dont specify whether they consider total length, or centerline to centerline length. In either case, the difference is like 20mm.
Bram, I take it that you have been in contact with CAMS (Keith - logbooks@cams.com.au) about your cage?

No. I have just been following the rules regarding safety cages as written in the CAMS handbook so far.

I will flick him an email when i have some time just incase there are certain things that require attention. I have been taking photos of all the top welds so they can be seen/inspected after the cage is erected. There is about 10-20mm clearance from some welds to the body structure.

Been a productive day. Got the remainder of the dash bar tie ins to the base of the A-pillar welded out. It might not look like much. But these out of posistion welds are extremely time consuming and difficult.

This mounting point will also tie in the upper door bar when I make it, creating a strong node.

Then I got the 2 bars that make the V inside the rear stays cut and welded in. These tie into the center of the main loop, where the base of the roof bars V ties in. Also creating a strong node with many bars intersecting.

Then I got to putting the diagonals into the main loop. I have already cut and notched these way before i did any of the other parts if the cage. So I just had to clean these up, and add in the extra notch for the rear stay and forward lateral loop.

The lower bar of the 2nd diagonal is now a little bit short. So i will re-make it, rather than have a less than ideal fitment. The posistion of the X is important, as I want the harness bars to tie into the middle of the X intersection. And they need to be at a specific hieght for the harness to have the correct rearward angle from the seats.
