For me when I had my bug I did the below:

Sump - was stock, just ensured the oil was full at cold prior to track day

Oil cooler: I never had one however if you plan on doing 6+ laps at full noise it's a good idea I think.

Radiator - the standard rads are actually really really good quality. Maybe put a new one in if you are questioning the current one.

Fuel surge - I never ran one and a couple of times ran less than 1/2 a tank with no issues.

Brakes - I used A1RMs without issue found them to be a happy medium between track and road. Just really dust which I didn't really care about.

Thanks for the info.
Ordered my extinguisher bracket from Russ and just scoping out best pricing for some bits.

Need to look at Tyres, likely I'll be going with Nitto NT05's for street/track duty on a 2nd set of rims.
Seems there isnt much price difference these days between 17/18 so i guess i'll step up to 18's.
Probably a set of Ultrex as they're cheap and local.
Wont look great until i lower it but it'll do.

Now, anyone run 18x8 +42 with 225/40's and have scrubbing issues under hard load?
Hate tyre rub when on the track and want to be able to get by until coilovers go in.

Possibly need to roll guards?

I don't rate the A1RM's in a heavier model car. These are what I have just started using from GSL. Not sure how long they will last but pull the car up very well.

Yeah when i contacted GSL they pushed me towards the Forza FP3 (i guess they're pushing them hard) for street/track usage

They're cheap enough to give a try, if they suck can put something more proven in

I would bypass and go straight to the FR6.

I doubt you will get any scrubbing issues with that spec wheel and tyre. Had 18×8.5 +43 on an 07 sti and had slight scrubbing with 235 semi slicks. A standard guard roll would have sorted my issue however the 06-07 sti have flares on the back so you cant roll them like you can with a bug. Sorted it with a tiny bit of camber to begin with, which turned into more once i had a more track orientated alignment done.

awesome thanks.

RE wheel nuts, ultrex offer alloy nuts - which i'm not a fan of especially with likelyhood of wheel changes for track.
Anyone know what spec of steel nuts I'll need?

18/40/225 wont rub on the 18x8 +42....had these on my 07 wrx and no rubbing on the track - car was on super super lows also. That was with kumho semi slicks and also nexens

Looks like a nice find!

Having run MY02 and 06 STI's on the track and in The Classic and Dutton Rallies, my 2 bob's worth is:
1. Pads - Ferodo DS2500 or Pagid yellow with DBA 5000 rotors
2. Standard radiator is fine if in good nick but keep an eye on the join of the top tank
3. Oil cooler not really required
4. Rims - get another set of 17's for track use or use the standard STI 17's for track and put 18's for street. Keep the offset +45 or more.
5. Tyres - you can run 235/17 R Specs on the standard STI rims and suspension without any issues but you may need to check for rear rubbing if you buy coilovers.
6. Fuel surge: Yes this is a problem after right hand bends on 1/2 tank or less so get hold of an STI in tank mini surge pot (or copy).
