Cheers mate. I used some Mothers Plastic Polish I had left over. Did the job nicely, but I will probably need to take it off again soon and have another shot at it because there is two small spots I missed!

Got the rims back from Aeroplate in Welshpool and I am extremely happy with the quality of their work. They are a little dusty but the photos give you the general idea.
Picked up my Plazmaman hot side piping too, but I am holding off the install until I grab new bumper retainers as the drivers side has started to strip the plastic thread and rattles over 80km/h.

You will of course clean the surface mounting to the hub back to bare metal...

Definitely. My current rims had a meeting with a flat disc in the hub mating face and these will have the same treatment.

Just for those of us following at home, what is this done for? |

They get hot and the powdercoat will wear/flake away eventually causing loose wheel nuts and we all know what happens next.

2019 BUMP (after an absent 2018)
JULY2017 - Newly installed DEFI Racer boost gauge and column pod. DEFI colour match is almost perfect and still a clear view of the cluster. AUGUST2017 - Took the car to Collie come'n'try day run by CAMS. It was my first time driving at Collie and first track day in the Evo, so a bit of a learning curve but overall very happy with how the car performed. Handling is neutral but has a tendency to oversteer when at the limit, but I probably could have played with tyre pressures to make it more stable mid corner. The engine, brakes and suspension were without fault. JANUARY2018 - Tokyo Motorsports did their usual good work and with the addition of the new exhaust manifold & Evo9 turbo it picked up 10kw / 35nm. The peak improvements are not the whole story however as there is substantial low-mid range gains, better throttle response, noticeably less turbo lag and a vast improvement in the low-speed driveability. At the same time I grabbed some new dash lights to make the whole thing more legible day or night. FEBRUARY2018 - Spent some coin on a carbon exhaust shield to save the bumper from any more pain. JUNE2018 - Some quality DIY time: restored the headlights, replaced all the old intercooler couplers, fixed the factory intercooler sprayer and then a good polish. SEPTEMBER2018 - Finally decided, after too many near-misses on the road, it was time for a daily. The mighty Mazda 121 Metro(sexual) with a cracking 125,000km on the clock it is tidy, averages 6.2L/100KM so is considerably cheaper to run then the Evo and the dogs is much more welcome in this interior. OCTOBER2018 - Time to go lower and fix that sway bar knocking. Set of SHOCKWORKS hillclimb coilovers and new rear sway bar endlinks. NOVEMBER2018 - Time to tidy up some loose ends and repaint the rocker cover again. This time a proper strip down to bare metal, plus a higher heat primer and paint. Also scored a white RALLIART gear knob for cheap cheap so I can be a fanboy and have both versions. DECEMBER2018 - John Fowler made all the wheels point in the right direction and gave me a good benchmark to start adjusting the dampening. JANUARY2019 - Impulse buy on a set of Enkei RP03, 17X8.5 +30 means they should fill the guards and give ample room for a 255/40R17 tyre. The current semi slicks are more slick & belts then rubber, and the paint is also the result of many track days so they will be given a fresh powdercoat in a gloss gunmetal. 2019 PLANS / TO DO'S - Continue adjusting suspension: additional front droop and less camber, but only once the RP03's are on the car. - More power: with a daily driver, two new E85 stations near home, one E85 station near work so might be time to convert and see if I can squeeze +270kw out of the IX turbo and stock engine. - Brake overhaul: change pads, skim rotors and fresh fluid. - Oil temps: replace the stock oil cooler with something more substantial and modify the stock ducting. - Track time: more interested in the point-to-point style events. ***Hopefully the FLICKR picture links are working***
