let us know how you go with this as most of us have the exact same exhaust systems and it seems it could happen to anyone... taking out the exhaust is not an option

cheers

Tonys spoken to subaru and they know the guy that runs osb park examination centre. They've basically said they don't sell illegal cars.....so it shouldn't be any problem going over the pits but if it is they will sort it out.

Either i can take it down to the pits and they'll do it straightaway or Tony will do it monday just waiting to hear back.

Definately don't want to alter exhaust but sounds like we should be sweet so i'm crossing fingers. Will let you guys know how we get on

I don't belive this to be true at all, I've previously test drove quite a few cars
at Ozzy Park and City Subaru and those cars definately had exhausts that
would be over the legal DB limit.

Also if this was true they would sound test and measure the height of every
car traded in which just doesn't happen.

Unrucky. Cannons are typically loud and tinny though, specially without a resonator i suspect. I get the feeling it's going to be over the allowable noise limit.

I saw on their website a few months back they had a white 03 STI that was really quite heavily modified. Coilovers, anti-roll bars, in take mods, exhaust, DBA4000's...the lot. Nothing on it that would concern me as being unsafe but I dont think it would have sailed over the pits first go.

How do they test it? I'm assuming static and X% of maximum RPM?

A dB meter from the appropriate distance and angle.

Yeah i guess i'm just naive to the whole thing i can't imagine them testing every single car they get too much time and money spent per car for them.

Hope everything goes well for you. Good luck with it.

I had been told that exhaust testing for sound volume reading was at the expense of the car owner at around a grand with no refunding either way even if its within legal perimeters.

I hope that isn't true.
