Yep, as per post#6, it is illegal... this current law replaced one that was titled "Driving in the right lane of a "fast travel carriageway" (Defined as having a speed limit of 80 or 90km/hr, can't remember which).

Back in the day, I've given tickets for it. And yes, it is frustrating... in England the law says that you can't do an "inside overtake" which means passing another vehicle on the left.... but it seems to become necessary when idiots insist on driving in the right lane no matter what...

Its just that it's "safer" for Perth drivers to stay in the right hand lane.

If they're in the left lane they may have to merge at some point.

lol, to be honest when travelling on Roe Hwy I will occasionally move out to the right hand lane when there is a merging on-ramp coming up with traffic on it. Just because I know that when doing 100km/h you're going to have dicks coming onto the highway doing 70-80 clicks.

Yeah same.

Sometimes when I am in a shitty mood I will continue in the left @ 100 and almost piledrive them up the ass to prove a point to get up to speed before hitting the highway.

A few months ago i saw a fully laiden b-double concrete truck pound a Kia up the ass simply because it couldn't stop and they didn't speed up to merge. Got what they deserved imho.

It's all frustrating. I was over on the east coast last week and the law over there is that if you are not passing anyone you have to move over to the left side of the road. I know this as the person who was with me got caught and was pulled over by the cops and booked. This was on a freeway and doing 100km/h. They should have this here.
