To have up to 8% HF for pickling pastes I need to have a permit, checks and calcium glutomate on hand for any skin contact (bullshit I know, as you used to be able to buy the stuff off the shelf years ago).

Yeah I think I'll chuck them on the car and see how noticeable the marks are. The photo posted was by far the worst of the 4. If they are noticeable on the car I might look into getting them re sprayed.
Also, I'll can anyway tell me whats the deal with Yokohama AVS sport tyres?? As I got 2 with the rims that look pretty new. Are they a track tyre as the tread on these looks quiet strange. |

Wipe with acetone, be careful not to get any on paintwork, and wear gloves.
We're a bit picky to be going that hardcore on the inside, as its just going to build back up again, but im all for getting my hands dirty. It will probably be easier to get at it with some fine wet and dry before buffing the inside, it'll also save you a lot in buff pads, as im assuming that the foam type are going to be the only ones you would be able to use on them. You seem like a trooper, so it wouldnt suprise me if you did that by hand to :P Good luck |

I havent as yet but will give that a go this arvo.
Haha yeah I'm probably being a bit picky about it, but i figure whilst they're not on the car I may as well try get it off now. Trying to clean them up whilst on the car would be an even bigger nightmare. |

once you get a coating of brake dust on them you will never see it ever again!
wheel gleam does great work and his not pricey at all, about 80-100 per wheel to buff em out. |

Brush on and leave to soak for half an hour, my Volk insides came up mint - only a few bits that wouldn't come off.

Still can buy off the shelf, My work stocks the Cigweld Chromebright which in the MSDS lists HF acid content between 1-10% Nitric Acid 10-30% (very accurate I know)

I've had a win, Thanks to stinga for the idea about mineral turpentine. Found some in the shed and gave it a go.
I let it soak on for about half an hour then tried scrubbing it with an old scourer, it slowly came off but not as well as I had liked so I bought some grade 1 steel wool (low grade so it did not scratch the rim) and used this to scrub it. Took a good couple of hours but well worth it. Sorry for the phone pictures but you can see how well it worked. ![]() Again thanks for all the ideas. |
