There is a certain amount of skill required to do it properly. I would never do it for $80 either. you need to know how to solder properly, heatshirink, and also how to wire up each speaker correctly. You cant always just match up colours.

I'll install the Double DIN unit for $80.

You'll have to get someone else to wire it up though.

Has the car got the standard stereo in it still?
grab an adapter harness. Easy fix if not confident on diy.

The funny thing is, this will be for another car he is trying to flog and will increase the price by $10K due to the double din dvd player install

what car is this? i have done a pioneer avic install on a early series trim impreza (93-97)
it has a whole bracket thingo that holds the cupholders in, all you do is remove it, unscrew the old deck out and screw in the double din unit....then hteres the wiring of course, is this similar with the 98 onwards trim?
