The problem with all of this is the following: all of these cars even from the car yards will be bought, bogged up and repainted then resold to make some coin, but the new buyers wont really know the history of the individual car. I mean who wants a car that has had all these dents and then has been fixed.... pain in the ass among other things.

So i guess my advice is i wouldn't be buying to much second hand over the coming years unless you are 100% sure.

Did you submit your claim over the phone or via the email address HBF provided? I emailed through last night, so just wondering how long it will take for them to get back to us?
Have you heard anything from HBF yet Jimmy as I haven't? I got the windscreen done today so at least I've got transport now.

Fowles are having an open day on Saturday. Not sure of the times exactly, but HBF customers can get their cars assessed there.

Just got a generic email from HBF about saturdays open day, go's from 0800-1200.
I'm doing a 12hr shift saturday so I guess I'll try getting through on the phone tomorrrow to see what else is available.

Ross, don't make people panic. No one can sieze your property. You must agree to it and sign a release. I'm certain they won't make anyone walk home.

Rac & aami have been doing it all day Doug.

Once the car is assessed as being a write off it is no longer covered by 3rd party insurance & the insurance company can seize it at their disgression (as it becomes the property of the insurer).

Other insurance companies are giving owners 7 days to deliver their cars to their nominated holding yard.

(P.s all of my panel customers have stopped accepting cars for quoting and several are not quoting any new work until after the end of May now. I have a pile of 50 odd quotes on my desk at work to continue with tommorrow, plus the pile that will run off the fax all day Friday...after doing about 150 personally today)
