Mine has it, I put a clear UV film over it rather than tint over it.

Just tell them Subarus came with factory privacy glass from 2006 onwards and if they've got a problem to ring Subaru Aus. Oh and yeah they can't defect a factory item that has been deemed safe and past the ADR's, doesn't stop cops from giving you a yellow though just like anything else on the car even if It's stock, if they want to be wankers they will....they just want to waste your time and money going to the pits for nothing.

Take it to another pit!
Welshpool are notorious for being assholes! I'm sure someone on here can recommend another pit!

The ADR relating to window tint applies to 'plastic film'. Privacy glass is NOT plastic film therefore is exempt from the tint requirements. Unless they can find 'plastic film' on your window they can eat a dick.

So i have been on the phone to Subaru Australia all morning and they are trying to source some form written evidence to give me though that involves going through the archives to find the specific information in relation to privacy glass on this model. I am finding it difficult to work out how common sense doesnt prevail and the pits just accept that it is clearly privacy glass and it's not something that owners would put in the car as a modification you would just simply tint the clear glass so how they can't use this logic to accept it's a factory fitted item is beyond me!
They now want me to book the car in for a re-assessment which i don't feel paying them more money for an error that they are making only to then ask the dpi to come out and determine if the glass is factory or not which seems to be a big waste of resources and time to me as i have shown them for sale cars with the privacy glass clearly defined, shown them there is no edge to the tint and it's the glass that is darker nothing seems to make them realise that so looks like i have to try a different inspection centre |

Similar thing happened to a friend with a bike. He put the factory exhaust back on and they told him it was too loud. He gathered evidence and went back. They tried to charge him but gave up when they realized their mistake. Hopefully you shouldn't have to pay as well!

Spent all day now trying to get it passed even got documents from Subaru Australia confirming the privacy glass is factory fitted took it back he declined to revert his unfair defecting of the car still claiming he can't be certain that the documents aren't fraudulent! and therefor is still claiming the rear windows to be tinted or illegal....
Went and then spoke to the guys at warwick and they said they would have no issue passing the vehicle but can't override the original defect on assessment at the troublesome inspection garage, so in between a rock and a hard place with the dpi also saying that the privacy glass is not an issue yet for whatever reason the garage responsible for the inspection is clearly rogue and not on the same page as the DPI itself so now i am left with my sticker for the weekend at least it would seem |
