Can't Verso pre-bugeye. PowerFc, Link, Vipec are the best bang for buck options. Any workshops opinion/quote/ suggested mod path should be compared to anothers.......Much like panel quotes.......

Depends if I find it funny or not..
If its relation to this thread - I have expressed an opinion. Much like an asshole, everyone has one. I know I havnt said anything slanderous, just expressed my opinion on using the product he suggested. The thread starter has the ability to research and listen to the opinions and make his own mind up.

i have read somewhere probably from google that ecuteking 99/00 is bad based on the fact that the ecu does not really suit/handle the type of tune.
this may not be 100% true its just what the internet said. im sure some people here use ecutek on older models however. i think maximums are the ecutek tuners in perth but don't tune gc8's. a few times in the year im sure its mrt that fly over and do custom tunes this is just extra but don't take my word for it someone correct me if im wrong please

Yea MRT fly over every quarter to do tunes, you can pre-book and they use MM's Dyno. Mates 07 STi blew up after MRT touched it though!

Have a good search through the forums. You'll find very little info on a ecutek reflash for the GC8's, mainly due to the lack of local support and the better alternatives out there.
Best bang for buck imo is to get an Apexi PowerFC and a tune from a local workshop (PowerFC second hand - under $1k, tune $600 worst case). Other alternatives are Vipec, Autronics and Motec. Motec is the best without a doubt and has a price tag to suit. The best advice you will get is to find a tuner/workshop you like and then get them to recommend the best solution based on your use of the car and budget. Internet research might lead you to videos/graphs from Eastern state tuners that say ecutek is the best, but when you can't get any real support locally or it is going to cost you $2k for a tune, suddenly the other options look a lot better.

I have a MY98 WRX, picked up a used power fc for $800 and had it tuned through All Star Garage in Malaga for $400. The included hand controller comes in handy to see live data, not to mention you can easily adjust some settings. Can't go wrong.
I also bought the fc datalogit, so I can tweak the tune through my laptop and log data while I drive.
