I think I can say, with great confidence, that my factory ECU is way more advanced then a PFC. Even my Link 44S has feedback knock control.

I don't have my laptop with me, but I'll check tonight when I get home.
There is Subaru Group N rom that has an even greater res then a normal factory ROM.

I get 550k's to a tank with my Link 44S on a long run, and 600 with the reflashed factory ROM. BUt I use cruise control.
i know it seem's like I'm bagging PFC's, but they are old school, and there is a lot of other options out there.
I didn't know they could run feedback AFR.
I didn't say basic, but technology has moved on a great deal since they were released.
And yes, the tuner is the most important factor.

Ok, then I know that my factory ECU kicks a power FC's butt.

a late model GD ECU is a highly capable piece of equipment. there is multiple maps and endless configuration if you have time to interpret the code/tables and play around.

compared to the time and effort of getting a motec/vipec up and running though, there is nothing stopping you from running a motec in piggyback to get the most of out a car and still retain all the factory cruise, ABS and DCCD goodness.

Considering the original post was about GC8 ecu's, I think comparing GD ecu's to power fc is a little irrelevant
