you'll need an my01+ setup to do the rotation like this, the GC8 brackets and manifolds just arent adaptable enough to get the clearances.

For the intake: as stace said u can only flip the manifold on the 01s and above.. Meaning to do the same ud either buy an 01 manifold. or need to get two pre-01 manifolds and do some cut and welding.. Then theres all the fuel lines etc that have to be swapped over as they dont match up when u reverse it. Then theres the alternator, now if u want to keep the A/C then its a bit harder. R/T had to modify the bracket for the alternator and moved the A/C altenator over also. This alone to reverse the manifold took 2 full days work. For the rotated setup: U will need a new upipe and downpipe and FMIC piping to match. I got all the FMIC piping re-done as ill try and sell off my existing piping and downpipe rather than hacking it away. COST: hmmmm, i cant tell u mate but i think its gonna cost a fair penny Quote:

stace no i havent mate, everything else is in its stock position. What used to be there was the coolant overflow tank. but that was removed and replaced with my perrin one when i got the FMIC.

cool, im really interested in taking a look at it
although i suspect the GD's just have a lot more space to play with down the front

well i wanna get the bloody thing back delays delays always delays. not R/T fault but suppliers from the U.S. hehehe
yeah i think theres just more room in the GDB chasis. its fits in there with ease even though its got 2.5" piping. When shes done mate ur more than welcome to come to R/T with me and have a chat with both our setups. |

Yeah the GDB is much bigger in the engine bay it seems. When I look under my bonnet its a bloody tight squeeze for my turbo pipe to get over the manifold and the pipes only 2inches wide and flush against the top of the manifold... so about 2.2 inches is all you have to play with above the manifold or in front of it on the GC8. You really have to move the alternator and have the throttle body there on the GC8 chasis OR tunas belt-o-rama setup if you absolutely must have aircon.
I will ditch all the aircon when I go reverse... save some weight and get a reliable result.

takin shape T!
i can empathize with the time factor, that's the tallest hurdle to jump over. don't mind me asking, is R/T doin all the fab work (ie: welding) in house or out-sourcing it? |
