Don't the bugeyes have stiffer chassis and better gearboxes etc?

Maybe I just think that as i have one. Bugeyes don't feel as fast and you don't sit as low in the car. They do have a more refined drive though I recon.

I think there was a change in the ratios between the MY01 and MY02.

Go bugeye...just don't fit aftermarket headlights or tail lights or it looks like an abortion...

What looks better is a matter of personal opinion but if you dont mind either surely you'd have to go the 01/02 since its not 8-14 years old and will have less km's on them and these days most gc8's have probably hard a reasonably hard life (not that this is always bad, but any older car that gets driven hard WILL cost you somewhere along the line)

Depends on what the car will be for.

GC8's seem to do very well in motorsport due to their lighter weight... just look at the dutton rally results.
