Id be supprised if it made any difference at all, the keypad is just that, a keypad, the workings of the immobiliser etc. are in the module

Ha beat me to it! Yeah make sure the recall has been done...it fixes up the dodgey wiring that the company contracted to fit the Brandt did...also make sure that the sticker is on the inside of the door as well to prove that they actually did the recall...unlike mine F&%ken *********** Subaru dealership

ahh ok new Brant thread....
as per old thread my keypad shit its self.
when i fitted the new keypad I found the plug that goes into the module had the retaining clip broken off the plug and it had been held in with electrical tape which had failed in the heat and the plug had partialy come out
( only time its been tampered with was for the recall ??? )
So if you have keypad probs check the conection into the module !
Just remove the glovebox unit ( 6 screws ) and its just behind the radio..

also see here

Mine probably has not been in for a recall, The first owner was a lady driver. Not only that the next owner was a old primary school mate that just put in a Stereo and subs (apparenltly can effect it). Anyway even if it has been in for a recall its still happening so subaru didnt fix shit, but im willing to bet it has not been in. So im calling subaru tmr. Btw where abouts on the door is the sticker

Cheers for the help

Adrian

The peace of mind knowing that the car can't be started even if the thief gets the keys far outweighs any inconvenience issues that people always bring up...but like everything, they are prone to occasional failures...that's why new cars have warranties.

I used to have problems all the time with mine....was mainly the alarm module rather than the immobilizer part of it.

I had my Brant alarm module removed and had the Brant keypad immobiliizer integrated with an Autowatch....fantastic.

Man -- Farken hell.

I had a issue with my Brandt yesterday too !! It is the heat which causes it. Went to a mates house, car was rather warm .. Left there, drive 2 seconds around the corner to the shops ..

Got back in the car, wouldn't start !! Brantd was disabled, Engine Light came on .. Go to start the car, zero activity! Waited 10 mins, tried again .. Nothing ..

Popped the hood, called the RAC to get a Tilt-Tray ... Hung up, tried again and it started!

So the solution for me, is basically, popping the hood, letting some of the heat dissapate as it was f00king warm under there, and eventually it will start.

Annoying shit.
