Was able to inspect the old short motor today, and got to see slight piston - side to side movement in the block especially cylinder 1 - indicating a worn ring.
There was no scortching on the pistons or cylinder walls which was all good, everything else seems in good nick.

Its only slight play, so I can see how the motor was still able to run fine till this time considering the damage was done so long ago now.

My new motor arrived today, and the heads getting sent off today aswell. The rear diff yolk bracket got sent off to get machined to fit the carbon shaft's aswell.
Hopefully will have it running in by wednesday latest.

Received my car back from Sharbir & Diamond - aka Auto Evolution, all i can say is Fkn' Outh!

Still running it in obviously, but I am extremely happy with their customer service & are one of the best experiences I have had regarding a workshop. Thoroughly recommend them.

SO car received a new EJ207, heads got some work, new AFM, full service (new plugs/fluids/belts etc etc).
The carbon shaft is also in and working perfectly (no vibrations) and the Perrin Headers are also on.

I can't give you a full review of how the shaft feels like on its own (obviously because theres so many other new things on) - BUT all I can say that shifting feels unbelievably solid into any gear, its just beautiful.

1st - 2nd and 3rd gear move very quick to my limit of 3500. I dont dare try the rest coz it generates too much boost.
Very happy and worthwhile mod.

Perrin headers - the sound is sick. throbs like a boxer on idle - but then its something else as your driving. love it!

So anyway, where was I?

Thats right, Tints/Cusco lip/S203 wing/Whiteline bits & Autronic are coming very sooon

What changes did you make to the gearbox?

none. Dont understand exactly how the shaft improves the shift - but it certainly does. Maybe there was a certain rear diff/shaft flex on gear change with the stock 2-piece or something?

the chaps over at iwsti.com also have commented on this, so im not alone.

i guess some of the energy in a stock setup is wasted by the join in the middle of the tailshaft?

Bit of a update - car is complete, and now ready for a tune.

Car has received a bit of a exhaust work-over - have reworked the dump somewhat.
I have got rid of the split rails - I now run MRT rails, welded speedflow fittings and braided teflon line in serial setup - bit of a muchness but meh..

I have also fitted this beast - SO much better than the SARD unit i had - and its a solid bit of gear!

On the Aquamist side of things - iv run a wire down to the ecu - ready to be used by the Autronic, where upon activation it would switch to a race map of sorts - with the controller off - it detuned/inhibits the race-map parameters to essentially give a daily street map.

Methanol iv purchased from RPW who are dealers for Coogee Energy who supply quality grade stuff. Cost me $50 for 20L, not bad.
for a 50/50% mix with water i'm looking at:
5.2 L water
6.6 L methanol

tune is booked for middle of september at this stage and hopefully I can call it quits.
