Sounds like its running the APS stage II upgrade from a decade ago. That would confirm the water injection setup. So it probably was a unishit. Offer him 5k, then you have a bargain

I've been running a uni-chip since i've had my car, and just like other ecu's, it needs to be tuned properly.
I wouldnt say it is as capable as a motec, or has the diagnostics etc of a power-fc, but for a daily driver its great - Gets a lot of km's to a tank, and still holds up at the drags and AHG. Its all in the setup and the tuner!

On topic, I dont think that this car is what you want, and is a lemon (from the sounds of it). As previously suggested, dont rush into anything and really look around before you commit to a purchase.

Sorta ontopic, my uncle used to run a car dealership down in rocky.. i say used to as he's retired now, his moto was though, you don't need to sell a car, if it's in good condition, it sells itself. So any dealer trying to sell you a car, step away and look at something else

i just been thinkin what would you offer the guy for this car? all i found really was the oil res in behind the altenator and the mags are a bit chewed out and are missing the centre cap on one of them. other than that it seems immaculate. if i could get it cheap i could spend some bucks on it. i was thinkin maybe 12k 0 13k it at 14k now. its been there since october like someone mentioned...any thoughts? thanks

EDIT: In all seriousness mate, I'd keep looking. If you're set on the 'classic' shape, I strongly suggest looking for a 99/00 model. Lots of upgrades from the '98.
