Default Update: Soooo, how bad is it?

Update:
So how bad was it? It was a write off . So now I'm on the hunt for a new car, will be looking at both cruiser's and then if I can't find anything I'm 100% happy with I'll look for a STI/EVO.

Well as you may have seen I've been thinking about stepping out of the STi into a cruiser. A person expressed interest in my car and requested a viewing and test drive. Long story short this is what happened. From what my mate said (I wasn't on the test drive as I'm away with work atm). The driver wasn't thrashing it or going very hard and this is the out come.

From initial assessment no chassis was bent, engine wasn't damaged (no liquids came from under the car) but as you can see, Front bar, bonnet and guards are farked. Rims are a little beaten, however, the car rolled up onto the truck normally. Will have to wait for assessor to come out and then obviously get it repaired.

Possible out comes: Cruiser gets checked out and is good, STI repaired and sold to person who test drove.

Cruiser is shit, STI gets repaired, however, I'm not sure if the insurance company will pay for rims (everything is stated on the policy) or the front lip or filter - I keep STI.

Cruiser is good STI write off. I get money then Cruiser

Cruiser is shit, STI write off then on the look out for another car.

Dude that sucks! You said you were away with work? I would be pissed too if I had came back to that. Either way, make sure either insurance or the test driver pays for the damage. If there is slight sign of frame damage, and near total cost I would just try to sell that one off and get a new car. Cant really examine the damage since I cant see it in person, but depending on what little benders have happened, it might cause you problems in the future. Hopefully the lateral links, front sways, and axle are alright and still aligned.

Besides that....... best of luck!!

Who was the test driver? Was he a novice?

wierd situation isnt it...
because he was driving and he isnt insured to drive your car

...pretty damn bad. Make sure you keep tabs on the guy, because (as mentioned) your insurance company won't be paying out on your policy as you weren't the driver.

Written with great composure, I would be guttered. Which ever choice you make, good luck and I hope it works out smoothly.

Not necessarily.. it might just incur an extra excess due to the driver not being listed on the policy.

I hope it all works out for you. Is the person that drove it still interested in purchasing it if it's repairable?

Gotta say it, from the look of that damage, if someone didn't hit them at great speed, then they hit something else. Way too much damage for a slight tickle going lightly. Best of luck though.
