No airbags went off.

At this stage he is still interested in the car, but we will see how it all pans out. Either way if it gets repaired, I will accept nothing less than it be put back the way it was before the crash. I will be speaking to the right people to ensure that this is done as I will not foot the bill for any of this.

i think everyone, including myself, is still curious as to how this happened as a result of sedate driving. Something run out in front of the car? Oil patch on the road??

fair enough then

from the pic that looks to be mostly cosmetic damage, new bumper, head light, quarter panel & bonnet...i once had a tyre blow out whilst cornering in my FWD Liberty and cleaned up a bus-stop, damage looked almost identical to this, looks a lot worse than it actually is...unless the car did actually have some real momentum behind it and has skipped up a kerb, then you may have damaged suspension components, usually difficult to single out specific components so generally recommended to just replace the front components entirely - insurance job for sure

Big question is though will they replace the teins or with std stuff? I have told them that the car did have different suspension but I'm not sure how they will do this.

depends who you're insured with, i'm with Just Car, when i altered my suspension components i rang and offered to give them a list of exact components changed and their part numbers, the guy said they only needed a rough idea of what had changed as to how/if it would affect my insurance costs, but in the event of making a claim they would require me to provide the detailed list. So long as they have it noted on your policy that the car is riding on after market/non standard suspension you should be sweet

Most if not all insurers will cover other drivers if they have your permission.
There will be a larger excess though.
If they don't have your permission it is theft any way.

Awd performance cars are comparably idiot proof, he was obviously driving like a tool. Legally though he doesn't have to buy the car.

I have it in my policy that its an extra excess for un named drivers. Legally no he doesn't have to buy the car, however, I will take all measures if he chooses not to buy the car, to return it back to its original condition. However, as mentioned the person is co operating and obviously feels pretty shit about the whole thing. Accidents happen it just sucks that it happened at this time.
