Default is this repairable?

well i didn't have an ideal start to my weekend, i was up all night thursday throwing up, took a sicky friday as i was still feeling terrible and hadn't slept. friday afternoon i thought to myself " i'll just nip down to video easy and rent a dvd to stay in an watch" but i never made it. i was turning right into a t-junction there was a bus at the bus stop to my right and foolishly i pulled out even though the bus was blocking my view from the far lane and unfortunatley there was another car there, i think i'm just more pissed of with myself than anything, i just wasn't thinking clearly, i do think the state i was in played a part in it but i still take full responsibilty. I'm guessing its a write-off, i 'll know early next week when my insurance gets back to me, what do you guys think?

If it is, I'll take ya rims :-)
What is your car insured for? That will play a part if insurance will write off or not.

It all depends if you want it back I guess. They will probably write it off and I would buy it back if the price was right and fix it up (will need a signifiant amount of work to straighten the front rails.. Otherwise forget about it and buy something else.
Sad to see a nice car like that.

It will be a toss up between the insured value, cost of repairs, and what the insurance company thinks they can get back from the salvage.

If its cheaper to repair then pay you out 'including revenue generated from salvage', then they will repair it.

Check your policy for more information.

To give you an example, a colleague from work purchased an BA XR6 for $13k 'vehicle was insured for agreed value of purchase price', got into an accident with repairable damage of $8,500 and it is going to be repaired 'basically because the salvage value would be p.much nothing'.

For what ever its worth mate, remember any accident you can walk away from is a good accident, though its a shame to see such a nice ride looking like that.

Kink in the right front fender tends to suggest she took a bit of a bend in the rail, but otherwise 'looks', like a remove and replace radiator support, new or second hand body parts, square off engine bay, new/aftermarket radiator, shroud, thermos' and other bits and peices and repaint?

Once you take the bonnet off, the damage wont look nearly as bad, its more cosmetic then structural 'but that would be subject to mechanical inspection'.

Have a feeling this won't be written off through.

Pretty sure it shouldn't be based on that valuation.

cheers for all the info marc , i didn't check the engine as i couldn't open the bonnet so i'm really not sure, i'm guessing it would have been pushed back a little though, you can't really tell from the front on photo but the front end is pushed back quite a bit, your right in saying at least the other driver or i weren't injured, i guess it could of been worse, it just sucks losing my pride and joy,
i just noticed someone on this site saw the accident and already started a thread, i wouldn't of started a new if i had seen this, ah well
