I remember before the WRX well, especially all the Group B cars before they were banned. Then Toyota became dominant and I really wanted one of these:

1991 Carlos Saintz Toyota Celica GT4

Still really want one, and that one is for sale...

I had a few cars before I could afford to go down the performance car path. My first "hot hatch" as they were called then in the UK I bought new in 1988 and was the fantastic Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 as in the pics below. This isnt my car but was the same colour. This was a brilliant little car and I can only describe the driving experience as like driving a go-kart. It was very quick for its time and handled like it was on rails. If any of you have ever driven one you will know what I mean. I only had it for 2 years then moved onto the Golf GTI 16V. Again the pics below not my car, mine was painted in "oak green metallic" Sounds horrible but was a great looking colour on the car. The golf lacked the low down punch of the 205 so shortly after I got it I took it to a company called GTI Engineering who were based at Silverstone Race Track. They were the Uks official tuners for VW. Basically got it bored out and tuned with an extra 30bhp and a load more torque. It transormed the car and it was brilliant. I remember one day coming up against a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth at the lights It was fun and although I didnt beat him I kept with him and he didnt get away from me. Unfortunately when I came to Oz in '93 I had to sell it thanks to Customs and the amount they wanted to charge me to import it in

I then had an eye for the GSR Lancer when they came out and then just fell in love with WRX when I first saw them. Always said I would get one one day and had to wait till the end 0f 2004 when I got my current car as a brand spanking new one Not looked back since then

When I was 18 in 1990 I inherited my Dads Mitsubishi Starion a revolution in the 80's Rear wheel 2cyl turbo for memory with 147kw.

After the turbo went and it gave into rust I ended up getting a second-hand 82 RX-7.....coool

83 RX7 was my first car!!

Loved that thing.. bought it when I was 16, back in 1999, and ended up dropping some coin on new panel and paint, interior, suspension, brakes, etc.. already had a decent engine and gearbox in it, which is why I bought it.. ported 13B, extractors, jetted carby,

It did a 14.90 1/4 mile down at the old Ravenswood track just before the Motorplex opened up.. not bad for a first car!

Second car I ever owned was my current WRX, and I've never looked back, although I did consider trading up earlier this year to a Series 8 RX7 Spirit R.. then I decided against it.
