Why would you even want coilovers on a mainly street driven car?

Serious question btw....

I noticed a big difference setting my STD coilovers from 75 stiff to about 25% stiff but to be honest, when someone that isn't into cars has a ride in mine (even on a soft setting) all you hear is "oh fuck its so uncomfortable" etc

Yep my gf complains about my STD's being uncomfortable even on the softest setting, even though I like it.

Master D is on the money with the Spec C's struts IMO.

STD coilovers (& other brands I'm sure) are no stiffer than a set of lowered springs.

I have HSD's and they are abit more hard (on 8/16 settings) then my pedders springs (I could make then softer but meh).
