Going from Cusco Zero 2's to lowered springs and struts has been noticeably softer from the RS to wagon (same platform virtually, similar weight), even on their softest setting.

The good old King Spring

I don't understand why Joe Blow, who doesn't care about cars would want a set of coil overs though? They are exactly that Kym a "handling upgrade". I guess you can adjust your ride height, but at the cost of a slightly stiffer ride.

Just my thoughts though, that are probably not worth me pressing the keys on my keyboard.

One of the main advantages of a coilover setup compared to lowered springs on standard McPherson style struts is the ability to lower the car without loss of spring travel, which in a competition application is very important. In this context ya pretty well gets what ya pays for...

But for regular street use not so important unless you plan to regularly travel at speed on undulating roads where suspension travel (or lack thereof) may be an issue.
IMO it would be better to get some quality lower springs (eg Eibach) + adjustable inserts (eg Koni) than to buy cheap coilovers....there are plenty of examples of cars with this sort of setup doing very well in club level motorsport events.

And for the record, coilovers do not neccessarily give a harsher ride than standard... eg the DMS 40 (with the particular springs they came with...Kings for the record) I had in the MY06 STI when set at the softer end of the scale gave a much more comliant ride than the standard STI setup

To Test ride harshness go over the new Roe hwy overpass and new roads being built at the Great eastern hwy intersection

Gav, i have a set of RCE T2's i bought from Troy @ PSR sitting at home for the last 5months..Unsure what i want to do yet with the car. If i get them installed, you're more then welcome to come test drive it and see if you like it. Or if i decide to sell the car, these will be sold separately.
I am hoping to get them in by end of next month if i keep the car...

Anyway, i did a heap of research on these and the repsonses/feedback was very positive in terms of daily driving and track use, especially with the way the yanks complain bout their roads.
They also allow for different spring rates. Think the lowest was 7/6 kg, cant remember but can dig it up if need be. I opted for the 9/7 kg..
and yes they werent cheap...

I would also be very interested in how they feel if you install them (and if you don't mind). Especially as those are quite stiff springs. Happy to help install them too if you need a hurry up

How about RCE yellows + Tokico D-Spec adjustable struts. Used in a lot of street and auto-x applications. Firmer but not uncomfortably so with the added handling upgrade.

That or as Dave said, Spec C struts + prog springs = set (Spec C + RCE?)

I would plug my own Cusco 2E's...but as others have said. Even on the softest "1"setting I get complaints it's too hard. Which is one of the reasons (the other being my harness) that I do not have a back seat....and anyone complaining in the passenger seat is swiftly directed to the nearest bus stop
