Russ... I've done a few events/track days and found the body roll and grip issues to be rather restrictive.

Let's assume that you've learn't how to drive the car and THEN get to spend the 10K?

(Obviously I'm using this thread to see what I should do next) LOL.

I think you should buy a spec c twin scroll 2.5

Coilovers, sways, exhaust, tune, pee pants from excitement.

Thats like saying you should buy a mermaid on a unicorn. They dont exist.

Mitch you should do some more timed events because your car is no where near the limiting factor in your times. For example Matty05 was racing Burke and I in the sprint series with his 05 sti. He only had a tune and exhaust and he flogged the crap out of both of us. Good driver > Good car.

My experience anyway.

Yeah, from my prior experience, I wouldn't go messing with things until you need to do them.

Otherwise you end up with a car that sits in a shed for 12+ months :/

Exhaust, panel filter, tune
Sway bars, brake pads, brake fluids
Spare set of rims and r-comps

Good to go.

Agreed Russ.. However I entered that Rally sprint in a bone stock car on 60% worn street tyres. Also remember I wasn't driving nearly as fast as I could've based on my fear of binning a 70K car that the bank still owns. With a Tune, Exhaust and better tyres (as well as a lack of fear) I would've been much quicker. Any changes would be purely based on experience... 1) Exhaust because it'll add a little bit more HP and make it sound better, 2) Tune because it's neccisary, 3) Tyres because the current street tyres need replacing, I'll be getting R-Comps for timed events and track days, and finally 4) Handling improvments like sways and springs.

Totally agree John. Not keen to mess with the engine at all!!! WOuldn't mind a new head unit/satnav considering this is 90% a work car.. I've done over 31,000kms in the last year since I got it.

Yeah i know about how you wouldnt have been going hard at the Twilight race. Neither would I mate!

Why dont you come down to do a few rounds of the state sprint at RAC this year? Timed event, really fun, find out where you are in relation to others with similar cars etc. I wouldnt bother with twilight untill doing the rac sprint series for a while.

Do some events, get some base times, then the next time you run THAT track layout do some mods like sways etc. I dont think adding sways make a car that much quicker. May feel quicker because its flatter etc but that means nothing. Some cars go slower with bigger sways as it brings on more under/oversteer.

I track a stock STI with pads and coilovers. Done multiple events in the same layout and monitored the improvement in laptimes over time. I don't see the point in modifying anything until you are at the point where for example you attend track A in layout A 3 times with no significant improvement (>0.5s)

Of course this is looking at it from driver improvement perspective. Some people just want a fast car or a car that looks good or has a long mod list...each to their own.

2) Put the loudest non-recirc BOV i can find, on
3) Some 20" volts
4) Camo wrap the car
5) Grind down the springs for JDM
