Default Let the mods begin

So im taking my Sti up to Maximum motorsports for a service tomorrow , and whilst its there im getting some EL headers fitted and a full tune for the autronic.

Im heading away over east with work in august until december, and will be getting an STi 6 speed conversion as soon as I return for some added transmission strength.
Once the transmission is in, I would like to chase some bigger numbers. I think 360awhp would satisfy me (400 would be awesome but engine reliability may be an issue)
The thing i need to know is, are the factory forged internals in the EJ207s satisfactory for this kind of power, or will I need to get the engine built. Also can I chase that kind of power also retaining a TMI, as i want to retain a factory look

My current plans where to get the following (rememeber my knowledge on EJ engines are limited)

Stock EJ207
Silicon intake pipe
EL headers
Hyperflow TMIC
required fuel system
and a turbo suited for that kind of power.

any advice is appreciated.

Just take it to 360hp or 400 now, and when it goes bang, build something stronger from there. The ej207 SCD block will take a fair bit of punishment, but depends on how well it's been treated over the course of its life so far.

You will need bigger injectors or decaps straight up to get that kind of power though, and obviously a suitable turbo. Probably want to look at a bigger TMIC at least too.

The cost of a 6 speed conversion will be a significant pull of coin out of what could be spent on a stronger motor when it eventually dies. A 6 speed + rebuilt engine with nice bits would be bearing in on the cost of the car as it stands.

Stuff to think about, how much do you want to spend. You in it for the long term?

I am keen to do a 6 speed, but just don't have the thousands to put down on one. They don't seem do change in price much! I was hoping an 05 sti box would be $2k by now.

yeah long term, the car is immaculate and only model i like. i have been quoted 6k for the transmission swap, which is fine and will be happening early december when i return. On engine alone.... i dont really want to spend more than ~6k to try get that power. BUT! if i have to get it built, I will.

The engine is very well looked after. Guy that owned it before me was a mechanic, and did half service intervals also. I can tell the car hasnt been thrashed because the gearbox feels new with no backlash what so ever (and has the stock clutch also which is saying something)

Im not intending the car to be a drag car or anything, i would just like to be able to go down once in a blue moon without fear of destroying the motor on its first run.

I also have a V6 Sti, check out my build thread :-

I did the 6 speed and Brembo conversion, this cost me from memory $6K and I got $2.5K for my old drive line!

cheers

Need head work for that sort of power....and buy a v mount instead of that TMIC

When you say you've got an ej207 block, what do you mean?
The stock v5/6 STi or v7
They are not quite same same as far as I'm aware
