I think a number of years ago there were a number of big personalities that went with the cars, and their wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm had a significant driving force behind the forum. I think (I could be wrong admittedly) there was more emphasis on going for lunch on Fridays and meets, etc. Even when 'RW bought the churro place he invited people down, I wandered in a few times even and I guess it felt more of a community.

Maybe it's because I no longer live in Perth that I'm missing these kinds of things, but I just feel it's more of a car specific forum than it used to be.

tl;dr - times change and so does the membership.

Maybe we need a new generation of P-WRX.
I for one, would love to get involved.... Out with the old, in with the new

I think that there were certain members that pissed a lot of people off for a long time and stopped more of the mods and senior members from viewing the forums as much as they probably would have liked to.
I wouldn't say out with the old in with the new because the old school guys know their stuff, they have just been feed up with people going "my mate said his fine" then a few weeks later asking help with a rebuild. There wasn't much respect for those guys unfortunately, so what would make them want to come back....

In recent years A.Dave, Tris, Huggy, much of the banter brigade and many others have "upgraded" as they would put it and moved away from the six stars. A heap of others are just too busy with work and businesses to post but are still happily pedaling their dakdaks around at some point.

As stated above, SOWA on Facebook has grabbed most of the young'uns new to all things Subaru and has taken away from potential new members on here. Almost a good thing to be honest, because the page is rife with fuckwits. As most of us know, fuckwits have never lasted long on this forum. That SOWA page is excellent banter fodder and that's about it. The good kids on SOWA find out about this page anyway and have ended up here. Tome, Jack Dicks-on, etc. a couple of other lurkers.

Quite a few of us who have been on Perth-WRX for a while created another group/page on Facebook and have managed to keep aforementioned fuckwits out of it (not Tome and Jack!). Serious questions, serious answers, knowledgeable people and an aim much like this thread - to keep a community going with the right things in mind - motorsport and coming together at some stage for some motorsport viewing, a cruise, a feed, etc.

For those who don't like or use Facebook, it would be fine to use for a couple of groups and a small selection of friends/family. At the end of the day you're in complete control of the people on your list and the groups/pages you join. If you keep it to a minimum you won't come across numpties. If you're like me and can't help but cross paths with stupid people, then you'll add all sorts of pages just to "people watch" and to drop the occasional patch of vaginal sand.

Once my backyard is complete in my new(ish) place, I might consider hosting a BBQ one evening, say after a track day, cruise or motorsport viewing. A shopping centre is currently being built across the road and will be handy for not only food, but parking (Coles and Liquorland 150 metres away!).

Some good ideas and perspectives.

Obviously a lot of the 'core' crew is moving on and/or is too busy to keep up with the site, so who are the mods on here now?
The mods that I've always been familiar with eg Stace/Jester/A.Dave/Saint don't seem to be around.

I mean, there's a few PWRXers going to RAC, WAW, Rallysprint etc; but no activities as a club. Most of us won't even acknowledge the club at these events anymore, as there is no need to.

Personally I think that we need to bring back the club 'official' organised events, the PWRX shirts, stickers and merch. The Colin McRae cruises, Collie, drags nights, were all big hits, but once we lost the people driving them, they stopped.

There's obviously still heaps of people on here, still happy reading the forums and posting occasionally, so we can start putting some events out there and bring the community back.

I for one, will be happy to involved in what ever happens from now on? Could we possibly have a show of hands who would be happy to be involved in future events?
