Evo vs WRX went well, apart from a stall on the first autotest... i was hung over as fark!

Car ran perfectly all day, once i realised i couldnt hand brake the tight autotest hairpin in second on rcomps. Second run round went much better with more screeching. The hill climb was interesting to say the least, a pity we only had one go at it, I'm sure I could have picked up a few seconds. On the long straight i pussied out at 7000rpm in 5th, which equals about 195km/hr but I could have braked much deeper into it.

As for the track, i previously have taken turns 1 and 2 about 50% throttle in 4th, this time out I grew some balls and decided WOT in 5th was the only way. Managed to hang onto the car and decided now thats the only way to go. My camera was having a baby in the afternoon so i only managed to get a few runs recorded. Watch in HD!

Auto test, 2nd attempt

Hill Climb, first and only attempt

First of 4 goes at the track, before i grew nuts. Got sent out last in the group and was caught in my warmup lap by Steve (nauli) who was on his hot lap. Took a while for me to notice him in the mirrors but i think he scored an extra lap out of it anyway

Also on the way up thought i had shat a turbo or worse, dropped a shim etc. Long story short the up-pipe heat sheild was loose

Great work, looks like you're having a ball - the only way to roll

Awesome Matt - good to see your build project really comming into fruition. It seems your at a stage where your platform will be quite realiable until you want to add more?
Im quite envious right now...

It has been quite reliable at the moment, but its basicaly stock motor wise. I plan on adding moar soon but not to the point where it becomes rediculous. a fine line..

Much to my irritation, the offset for the hats on my fancy new 2 piece discs are out. I thought i could feel the brakes dragging while cruising, and after Collie they developed an annoying squeak around right hand corners. Apparently some Prodrive brakes are supplied with a shim and some are not, apparently mine are the "not" and as such the disc sit too far in, and now the pads are worn down a little, touch the calliper.

Note how close the disc is to the left side of the calliper, and how the pistons on the right are extended but the ones on the left are not. i got the verniers out and there is ~4mm space on the right and less than 1mm on the left.

The three options i see now are:
- Fit a 5 stud wheel spacer *behind* the disc
- Make up a shim to space the calliper back, or my current prefered option:
- Take the discs off, split them and take them into work to get 2mm machined off outer the mounting surface.

I think thats the safest way to go about this, any thoughts?

With that, it makes it a stupid idea for me to attend No Limits this week as I'll probably start chewing through the calliper. I just don't have the time to sort it before Thursday night

That said, If I'm pulling one piece of the car apart, its time to strip that sucker back and start getting ready for motorvation.

i have the same issue, undo the cap bolt, and massage the caliper toward the strut with a rubber mallet. you will make up 2-3mm.
