Which way does it need to go? Can you just add a 3mm machined washer between the caliper mount and the hub? Then later on make it better.

the caliper needs to go towards the gearbox or the disc needs to go towards the wheel

Id go 1.5mm spacer between the hub and rotor hat.

Or machine 1.5mm off the rotor hat where it bolts onto the rotor.

Or Machine 1.5mm off the caliper mount face where it contacts the hub.

A shim(or big washers may work well) between the caliper and mounting ears would work fine(mild steels ok), I`ve done this sort of thing to caliper mounts before(and seen it done on some factory stuff) and its never a problem with the bolts torqued correctly.

...machining rotors or hats(which are replacable) is a little dodge...

Ok so since the Evo vs WRX challenge I have been stripping the car in preperation for painting before Motorvation and hopefully a few more thousand horsepower. I'm looking at losing some of the weight and aiming for that magical 10xxkg weight. Also the chance to try finish off some of the things we never got done.

some ghey pics because Jan stole one of my cameras and my other is broken

The whole dash is back out and I have a MY98+ dash from a wrecked clubspec that will be replacing it. Previously I was going to put the GD dash in (hence the MY02 dash i recently sold) but I a long term goal is to be able to do a Targa even with this car. I probably never will, but all mods I do now will hopefully be in the right direction so there is as little as possible to reverse.

Dash is out, that dash bar needs to be removed and the later model one bashed into place. I know where the issues lie that this isn't a "bolt in" solution, but i have a few weeks to sort it yet

Also I have stripped the remainder of the internal sound deadening, and have started on the seam sealant. Not much weight in this, but it all adds up and there is A LOT. I'm starting to thing its not there as sealant, instead its to hide the horrible panel gaps in my noodle chassis

pulled all the air con gear out, from the condensor and pump at the front ...

.. to the lines and the aircon box under the dash. All up its 13kg+ of weight removed

As I'll be updating to the MY98 dash some of that weight will need to go back in, but hopefully for the first time since the car first moved it will get a working heater to defrost the window when its 3 degrees in collie...

i was also running out of inspiration and mounted one of the CF WRC replica mirrors. they look pretty sweet and lose 0.75kg per side...

big ups to Damo who's been coming around to help and EvlGurl for putting up with me messing around on the car and lending me her camera.

more to come

Coming along nicely! Should just buy a ''hot box'' to demist the windscreen and they weigh feck all.. just need to custom build the ducting to the dash.

Muggz tell me more about this. How is it controlled? Have u seen it installed on a suby?

Does it plug into the coolant heater factory lines? How much does it cost?

All my heater box shit is out ATM and if I don't need to put it back and replace with that unit would be awsome.
