okies so last week i fitted some of the shit thats been lying around my house to my car.

Here is the VF48 in its virgin state. I promised myself i wouldn't fuck with this one as it was brand new. That lasted all of about 14 hours.

Stock rear housing

After Dremel (tm), smoothing out all the ridges and making the sharp edges smooth

I also went up the inlet and removed all the sharp edges and smoothed out the wastegate, as far as i could reach

I actually went further after i took those photos but never got around to taking photos. The rear housing, Tomei headers and heatsheild were then all ceramic coated.

One day last week I came home from work and decided to get on with the fitting, seeing as the first round of Evo Vs WRX was approaching.

managed to get the tmic, single piece mild steal exhaust (all 300kg of it) turbo and exhaust manifold off by myself in 2 hours with hand tools on jack stands in my shed. Note the spare wheel as i am such a shortass i couldn't reach some bolts with it that high off the ground.

Quick snap of the new goodies

I then spent the next hour dicking around as i realised i had forgotten to go to covs with the new manifold and get some bolts to fill up the 2x o2 sensor bungs. I managed to rummage around in my shed and found an OEM o2 sensor that i cut up to fill one hole, and the other was exactly the same thread as the stock bumper beam bolts. I cut that in half and wound them both in snug. Finished putting the turbo etc on over the weekend including some more mounting issues with the V10 intercooler. Once I had sorted all those took the car for a spin, checked the logs and she is running MEGA lean on boost. 0.99 lambda, roughly stoich on full noise Hoping to get a tune in the next week or so whenever ASG can fit me in

Also fitted a Kartboy short shifter. Here is my original RA shifter versus the stock WRX shifter

and here is the kartboy shifter vers the RA shifter. photo is a little skewed but you get the idea.

I see you've got a letter from wheels world (tm).
I like the part with the bling'd up heat shield and matryoshka doll the most.

Looks good. But with regards the smoothing and porting etc. They say that irregular surfaces flow better. IE golf balls. Alot of research has been done with things like that. Did you read up on it before poilishing it?

A lot of research has been done into laminar flow, turbulent flow, separation and pressure drag etc OVER A SPHERE...
Apples and oranges.

Looks like a nice job Matt.

Golf ball surface =/= flow inside a pipe.

You want the wall to be smooth (i.e. reduce the roughness ratio). Helps with boundary layer flows and all that jazz etc
