You're a mechanic right? So why are you asking such a basic question here? You obviously have a better understanding than those who have been here & done it. What afr's do you consider safe for an ej? Enlighten us.

On topic, my opinion, call a reputed workshop (STechnic, Maximum Motosport, RaceTorque, Evoultion R) and ask their professional opinion.

What some of the others are saying (jokes aside) is not just heresay...it is based on many GD WRX owners' previous experiences (around the globe, not just here).

Running higher boost levels on a GD model WRX (which yours is being an MY02) IS unsafe without a tune. The GD models are very sensitive to any changes in air/fuel...as in, even bolting a simple short ram/cold air intake will cause problems eventually, leave alone something like solely upping the boost).

My 2c.

Sweet rant mate! The reason the piss has been taken is because this is the Introduction thread & not the mechanical section.

Perhaps use this thread as it is meant to be and Introduce yourself to the community?

I've been modding cars (too many rotors to count ha ha!) since the early 90's, in the industry for 21.

Borrow a wideband before you play with it & go from there. 11.7 at peak torque is fine but no leaner than that.

As has been said the GD is very sensitive to any breathing mods, so erring on the side of caution will prevent your Dak Dak going Dok,Dok.
