no import duty from the US, and have them mark the box with a lower insurance value to reduce the risk for paying GST for it.

hahaha.....thanks benny. just abit late. so you getting 1 too?? sorry guys i said import tax...i did mean gst. its funny tho. i thought i was going to get a turbo for like just under $2000. then i get a call from UPS saying i owe another $300 odd. i'm pretty sure that customs look at your invoice stace. when i picked up mine the invoice enclosed envelope was already open. they knew exactly how much it cost. plus i dont think our dollar wa great then either. so from memory $23 - 2400

not complaining. just informing you guys of my experience. if i was at home i could give you guys full details. anyway love the green.

The FP Green is that price, but the FP TD06 will come in under 2 grand.

FP Green = FP TD06 with Garrett front cover and wheel.

The free trade agreement only applies for goods MADE IN THE USA, not goods from the USA. Customs can make you pay duties if you dont have supporting paperwork stating where it is manufactured, We have issues with this all the time at work.
To excape duties and taxes get the sender to put a value of less than AUD$1000 (value of goods only exclude freight) on the packing slip/invoice.

I paid no duty on my turbo...merely because I mentioned the FTA and the customs bloke asked me where it was made, and I TOLD HIM it was made in the USA.

They may have changed the policy now in regards to paperwork, but it got me out of paying duty at the time! The turbos ARE made in the USA at Forced Performance's turbo building facility, out of Japanese componentry. Might be worth getting a letter from FP stating this.

The most you can get slugged on it would be 5% if the customs staff get picky, but if they dont start asking questions about the origin of the components in the turbocharger, you'll be sweet.

I would say Customs would be more strict with business importations than personal, but the commodity code has to change for it to be exempt from duties if it contains imported parts.

Ok so whilst on the topic of a Turbo.

PowerFC
z32AFM
hybrid 600x300x75 FMIC
910 Bosch Pump
650cc Detchwerks injectors;

what would be a nice turbo to push this to 300bhp. More of a street car mixed with maybe some track work and kwinana plex times?
