How did it last three weeks if the hoses where shagged?
How many km's did you put on the car in the three weeks? Did you ask them to replace all the hoses? What things did they forget? If you are out to create a witch hunt you had better get everything out in the open on the onset or you are going to look like a fucking retard.

As a point of reference I drove my EJ205 for 6 weeks after the head gasket went, with copious abuse and it still drove absolutely fine upon removal. Shpoolin will attest to our encounter on Tonkin Hwy on the way to pull the motor out as the Defi showed 125 degrees....
My point is that the 3 week thing is something im willing to believe. What is going to be a point of conjecture though, is what exactly was asked to be replaced as part of the rebuild. Generally if its not asked for I dont see why the mechanic should replace it. When they present the customer with a bill for these, im sure they wont be impressed. However, they should strongly push for these simple things to be done at time of build.

Thanks for the post. Have consulted engineers, workshops and consumer protection in regards to this and other matters at hand. Wanted to get an objective opinion from them. Was keen to see general feedback from forumites, hence the post. But I'll leave it at that. As the people who know me would attest, I've spent many many years helping everyone as much as I can [all fields and subject matter]. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you need to stand up for yourself and look at the issue and say.. WOW, what happened there? |

I'm confused... Just a few questions...
- 3 week run in then a tune? I am assuming you got a run in tune prior to doing the run in? - What ECU/rev limits were in place during the run in period? - What was specifically asked for when getting the 'rebuild'? - What was actually done? - Were there any pre-existing cooling problems? Edit: One more - What happened when the cooling system went bye bye? i.e. I'm assuming the temp gauge went skywards, then what happened?
