Check Marfleet for RDA slotted disc's, they're 1/2 the price of DBA rotors and twice the life!...they're also the agent for EBC pads.

Did my last subi (90 RS turbo) slotted front and rear disc's with ebc red stuff pads for around $600 all up (fitted myself in under 2 hours).

Brakes were still awesome and brake fade was a thing of the past.

Doing the same to my GC8 this weekend (warped disc's suck btw!).

Brings it all back into balance if you ask me......and your rears will actually do something when they're hot (unlike the stockies).

What pads did you go for?

EBC green stuff for the street, EBC red stuff for track days. Green's are quiet.

P.s you'll root your new discs using old pads (were the old rotors grooved?)

I have left old pads in the calipers i have on now, with brand new rotors. I have heard you should never mix new pads and rotors together at the same time. Something to do with the bedding in process?

No complaints from me, the initial bite i get from them is awesome and gives me plenty of braking confidence.

For sure! The old pads will have grooves in them from the old discs.
The pads will transfer that groove pattern to the new discs and also prevent the new discs from bedding in properly.

If you have a look at your new discs now you might find some blued lines on them from where the high spots (ridges) on the pads have been getting hot.....I'd do the pads asap, even if you just fit standard bendix pads for now to bed the rotors in properly (about 1000km of normal driving).

I kept a close eye on it today, and inspected the pads before they went in. No real signs of uneven wear, the entire face of the rotor is being touched by the pads, so all good.

The pads appeared to be nice and smooth with even wear, if they looked fucked i would have changed them.

Like i said, i just got told not to mix new pads and new rotors at the same time, so i have left the pads in which came with my new calipers, paired up with a new set of DBA4000's.

Sorry, but you heard wrong..... MOST popular pad brands have a "bed in" layer on the new pad face (basically a grinding compound), it stops the discs from glazing and accelerates bedding in process, it gets rubbed off within the first couple of brake applications.

Using new pads also stops you transferring the wear (ridge) pattern from your old brakes.....Not to mention the fact that the ridges can heat temper the disc surface increasing the likelyhood of firther uneven wear.

have a look at your discs again after 10,000 km.....Got ridges?
