I'd assume you'd only have an issue if the pads were damaged, or grooved if the rotors they were previously were matched up with were also damanged - Obviously the pads will mirror the grooves as per the rotor.

Pads were smooth as and appeared that they were used on a rotor which was not damaged or scored, and there was no evidence on the pads to indicate there was an issue.

I tend to agree with what you are saying however - And if there were signs of issue I would have changed the pads. Will keep an eye on things and change them if required, which will suck as bit as whatever they are they rock!

Like i said, i just got told not to mix new pads and new rotors at the same time, so i have left the pads in which came with my new calipers, paired up with a new set of DBA4000's.
Slotted discs reduce the issue because the slots clean (read skim) the pads each time a slot passes the pad whilst the brakes are applied and this effect helps to prevent ridge like wear.

It also depends how rooted the old discs and pads are......if I couldn't feel any ridging on the pad face I'd probably re-use them too. From what I've seen (my own cars lib Rs and Gc8) stock pad rotor combos seem to groove pretty badly. I've fitted new pads when fitting RDA slotted rotors on both cars. Both have a nice initial bite now.

Best practice is to change the pads when fitting new rotors.

EBC Red Stuff would blow you away! The hotter they get the better they bite! (all street EBC are actually painted GREEN!)

Fitting slotted's to the RS was like night and day.......Awesome initial bite and better fade resistance (not fade proof by anymeans though!). Fitting EBC greens had the same effect again....Nicer bite and better feel when hot.

Give them a whirl next pad change......You won't be disappointed!

Just keep an eye on the rotors, run a fingernail over the wear area (cold brakes of course!) and see if you can feel any ridges develop. if they start to, change the pads.

What rotors did you fit DBA or RDA?

RDA's are harder steel than stock discs, not sure about DBA.

BTW stay away from EBC pads...you will be better off with Ferodo DS2500 or similar.
