sorry for chiming in but the search found this topic for me.

My MY10 with 60thou ks has an almost supercharger like noise in second gear only. must say it does sound cool but its strange in only 1 gear.

i have no crunching or anything of that sort with 2nd. maybe FHI snuck in a agressive grind helical for second knowing its possibly the most stressed launch gear? just a guess. just want to know if its normal/ wear and tear?

ok,i have since discovered its normal.

hey sorry to start this thread again but been having the whining noise coming from my my00 gc8 after swapping my01 gearbox without replacing the rear diff

wondering if this would a cause for it whining ?

In all seriousness though, was the gbox you put in the same final ratio as the one that came out?

Could also be tyres man, are they old?

sorry for the late reply , jezza i dont know i snapped the first gearbox, was told the 01 fits and is the same gear ratio, 5 days in a shes whining like mad ,

there brand new tyres on aswell,

would it be the centre diff ?
