Can anyone reccomend the best type of boost controller for my Jap Spec V6 STI engine. Also how high can i run the boost safely.

35 psi. i was told to get a hks evc by allstar. 2 stage electronic controller. nice display too. i wouldnt wind the boost up at all with out checking the air/fuel ratio. i have the same engine as you and i am expecting 16-18 psi when tuned

Without a retune 18.5 psi is max safe (which is stock boost actually). Only retune option for 99-00 sti is an ecutek or stand alone ecu (link, Autronic etc).

Don't even bother with with a boost controller until you have done supporting mods (i.e fuel pump, exhaust, CAI etc).

Factory control is fine (and the safer option) until you fit a bigger or modded turbo.

Plenty of V5 Sti's were going boom with factory 18.5 psi boost limit when first released, due to excessive timing in the factory mapping. V6 were tuned less agressively timing wise but run the same boost targets.

i have the same engine as you and i am expecting 16-18 psi when tuned...... 35 psi was a joke. hope he got it.

If you get a boost controller when im helping you put your engine in, we can set it to like 8 or 12 psi just to be safe until you get it dyno and tuned. If you want of course.

best boost controller in the market at the moment is the blitz range.

I use the Turbosmart E-BOOST and love it.

I have all the mods that you have mentioned above. Does this mean i can run a little boost. I have CAI, Walbro GSS342, AVO silicone Intake, Samco Silicone Y pipe, Up Pipe, 3" Exhaust.

The guy that replied to my first post must be a cowboy. I would really like to do the Power FC as i need to fit the Jap Spec ECU anyway. I suppose there would be quite a big difference between getting the original ECU fiited and purchasing a Power FC and getting it tuned. Hmm Comes down to how much money i want to put into this thing. Decisions Decisions!!! It's like where do i stop. HAHA

to make the most of your current mods you will need an ecu. i recommend a verso if it available for your car and if not next best thing is a powerfc.

I keep hearing this verso tune business but know nothing about it. Is it a stand alone computer, or a link. How much are they?

So the mods i currently have are really not going to do much unless i get a link or stand alone computer.???

I'm kitting out the engine so it's not like i have had the chance to feel the difference when installing a new mod.
