Thats one of the examples the claims manager gave me. There are so many factors relating to tyres, load, inflation etc. Working out if the tyre burst due to over-inflation or load would be almost impossible.

When declining claims insurers must adhere to guidlines set out by the corporations act & The Trade Practices Act. Also the insurance Ombudsmen (external group) do investigate declined claims. If the claims are unreasonably declined then the insurer can lose their license, due to not adhering to the requirements set by the above mentioned acts

On the topic of insurance and tyres, why take the risk if you have the knowledge.

Doubt many would take the risk if they had the knowledge but I'd say 98% of the population wouldn't have a clue, I'd never heard of load ratings until a few years back & that was only because of car forums.

until i have properly spoken to them about this issue i dont want to mention names. BUT saying that not many stores in perth stock them..

..that is exactly why if worse comes to worse i will just try and pawn these nexens off cheap oh ebay etc (with these lower load ratings they are really more suited to FWD cars running on 18's), and get new tyres pronto once car is up and running again.

tyre options for 215/35/R18 for subarus almost dont exist AFAIK, probably looking at 215/40/R18 which do have the require load and speed ratings for subarus.

if you don't mind a slightly higher sidewall, it is possible to get a 215/45/18 which they fit to the latest model lancer vrx.

I'd say they may have sold them to you because the rolling diameter if the 215/35/18 is about 1% different to the standard 205/50/16's that came on your car whereas the 40 is about 3% out. lets you use your standard spare without doing any damage to the center diff but????
