Yeah revs are higher and it chews more fuel, first thing I noticed was how much quicker it goes from 1st to 2nd off the line and up to speed. 4.444 is the way to go for a 5sp top speed is also reduced due to ratios but I haven't tested this on my private airstrip yet...

seagull did my box and diff swap after I busted 2nd gear in the original, the matching speedo sensor/gear wasn't available at the time so I went without. Still gotta figure out how many kms my car has actually done since the gearbox replacement vs. the 214,xxx currently on the odometer... the longer I leave it then the bigger the difference will be.

I'll definitely be removing the box from my car when (if) I sell it though, 4.444's are hard to come by.

Damn! Mine does that now i've gone to 4.44. Although mine reads 10ks FASTER than what im doing. ie speedo says 110kmh, gps says 100kmh.
Here i was thinking that the higher ratio meant that the engine wasn't labouring as much so it was using less fuel.... Haha.

I've got an STi dash coming, that was made for a 4.44 so it should read correct yeah?

its the sensor on the top of the box you need to swap.
it all depends on your tune, revs don't matter a huge amount because there are more injections per minute but there is less fuel in each squirt. its boost! because you are reving higher its easier to hit boost

Yeah seagull said the sensor needs to match the box, he used the sensor from my original ADM box so the speedo reading is higher than actual. I asked around at JWS for a JDM one initially but had no luck finding one, and haven't bothered much since. My motor is stock so I don't worry about it.

No - buy a bicycle!
