Will this modification tighten up my gearstick? It currently has an Ultrex short shifter in there with the bushings on the actual shifter quite firm, but then it still has quite a bit of 'play' even when in gear.

Cheers

you might also want to get the TIC shifter bushing, although CVR don't stock TIC

I'm keen for one of these but I have an old box that requires the return spring.

Here's the full list of goodies. As you install each one there is a noticeable difference in how much easier it is to shift

top left: rear shifter bushing
top right: transmission mount bushings
bottom left: rear diff bar bushings, don't help the shift but are good :P
bottom right: front shifter bushing

replacment bushing for the shifter linkage

and this is how they look in the car

this is someone elses photo of how sloppy the transmission mount bushings are

Each of the aftermarket parts is firmer than the OEM ones, and this is what makes the shifting action much more precise. also note that these will add a little bit more noise (NVH)

From there you can add a GrpN or Cusco transmission mount. Once again this increases NVH a little but makes fast accurate shifting easier

Stock vs Group N

Cusco Trans and engine mounts

here are where the other bushings go

Top-Deck likes this.

Anyone know if there is any difference between a MY98 shifter and 02 onwards?
