The radiator cap is marked as 1.3 bar, the header cap is marked as 1.08 bar. I just presumed that they were correct, based on your reply to my thread on differences between STI & WRX radiators, and the fact that I ordered them to suit a 02STI as my new radiator has the STI filler neck. Is there a difference between models, or have they supplied the wrong parts. Everything's working fine so I'm happy to leave the setup as is, but would be interested to know what the differences are.

My current alloy core is 3" thick and the car runs @ 89 degrees always, including during track work.
Thats good to hear then.

Jester what thickness is your koyo rad? Am looking at picking one up while the dollar is still good as well as a new dump pipe

The standard caps have black rubber seals and the STI branded ones have grey silicone seals for durability.

You'd change the 1.08 cap to a 1.3 to bring the entire system up to 1.3 bar if you had venting issues when track work hot.

The cap on the rad is more for ease of filling than anything else.... No more burping the header tank like the early cars.

Thumbs up

Cheers for the info Rossco. I'll do the upgrade if I decide to do track work.

No idea, thick. So thick not only did we have to trim the radiator shroud but the actual fan blades themselves as they hit the bottom AVCS cover. They fit in a non/single AVCS car fine though afaik
