Is the engine oil above the full mark on the dip stick?

If so, it can cause the PCV system to breath a little extra oil into the inlet tract, it then pools up and burns off.

I'd try a catch can first and see if it clears it up.

yeah the engine oil is just above the full mark on the dip stick. Might have to give the catch can a shot. Thanks

At the moment is the white smoke on start causing any damage to the engine/turbo or is it to hard to tell without knowing the exact problem?

The parts are cheap.. its the labour thats a killer.

Engine out, heads off, replace parts, then re-assemble with new gaskets (worth doing timing belt and water pump at same time if its near 100k km), re-fit engine.

At least $1000 in labour (maybe more), plus parts? Best you ring your workshop.

shit haha. costs just keep adding up. yeah might as well get the 100k service at the same time if it is the valve stem seals.

An expensive catch can is $325!

You can can get cheaper, just avoid the $100 chinese ones.

Do an oil change and put in something heavier, 10/15w 40/50 or thereabouts. Better to eliminate the cheaper alternatives first. Catchcan is good cheap insurance as well.
