I have been asked this question a few times since going FMIC, if im going to do it. Before the thread gets out of hand, has anyone done a back to back test/got results for this? I am contemplating doing it. And already having all the gear in the car, it would just be a case of extending some hoses basically.
Brent.

Back when I had the FMIC fitted (worst mod ever BTW) I repositioned the OEM nozzle to spray down from the front bar - I doubt I used it more than a hand full of times.

Do it. Anything to bring down intake temps.
It's not needed, but doesn't hurt. TMIC + Twin Scroll = Epically Awesome. FMIC + Single Scroll = Epically Laggy. For the power a Subaru 'needs' TMIC is sufficient.

In my experience a TMIC in cold ambient conditions is awesome, minimal lag and not too bad intercooling efficiency but the words "cold ambient conditions" are the operative words here.
As soon as the outside air heats up efficiency starts to drop away rapidly and then the engine once hot will begin to transfer heat to the TMIC because as we know hot air rises and with the TMIC sitting right on top of the engine and right next to the turbo it doesn't take too many red traffic lights for the TMIC to turn itself into an "interheater". This is why a waterspray system has a fairly decent effect on a TMIC but on an FMIC which is usually at least twice the size of a TMIC and located in a far better location with virtually no heat soak well I think any gains to be had from a waterspray would be largely psychological. |

On a side note, Fred/John/Blaise/others, where do Mitsu place the nozzles for said intercooler on the 'racy lancers'?
