Default What are these hoses?

Hey guys Im having a few issues with my Version 6 STI, it is reving extremely weird up and down sounds pretty terrible. While having a look under the bonnet I have found some hoses that I can not seem to find out where they go and one is plugged up.

Here are some pics:

WHS^^

But that's not your problem.

Your Airflow Meter has died......That's what causes the up & down rev thing.

It will be going super lean too.

DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE IT ON BOOST!!!!

Borrow a known good AFM to try out to be sure.

P.s what air filter is on it?

The first thing I'd check is that the stock bypass valve return pipe is sealed properly (ie: the big pipe on your intercooler, in the bottom pic). This is used to return compressed air back into the intake on the stock setup but since you are using an atmospheric venting blow off valve, this return pipe has to be sealed. If it isn't sealed properly, air will be drawn into the intake (post AFM) causing all sorts of issues.

Otherwise, check your vacuum lines for leaks.

What boost controller are you running?

Seems to be vacuum hoses that are off and if you have a boost controller then it could be the ones that are no longer in use! Just make sure they are blocked off. None of them should be sucking in air so if any of them are then thats a problem!
If it was an afm problem wouldn't the engine light be on? i don't know just what i thought!

What area are you in?

AFM failure doesn't throw a cel light...that's why 99-00 owners pop engines if they're not wary of the problem.
