Minor hijack, but only because I'm a pirate, but semi closed/closed/open deck block make any difference to oil temperature, thus increasing the need for an oil cooler?

I think the logic behind that theory on '06 onwards sumps, would be: because the actual pan area where the pickup is, is a lot narrower, and wedge shaped, there would be less chance of oil sloshing away from the pickup under hard cornering. Most modern sports motorcycles use a similar shaped sump where the pickup is.
