PFR6g STD plug for 2001-2002 ej207...It's not an NGK racing plug.

Pfr6b STD plug for 1996-2000 ej20*

In both of those ^^ part numbers the 'B' & 'G' both signify 'Special design'...They are 2.5mm shorter than standard plugs & hence special.

R7433- (8-10 heat range) - It's a nickel/ Iridium plug.

Firing end construction

Info here: http://www.ngk-sparkplugs.jp/english.../02/index.html

Read the GREY part number scheme for deciphering PFRXXX - Ngk's 2nd phase Numbering system

In this chart you'll see G & GV listed as racing design firing end for the old NGK part numbering scheme.

no but the g plug has the racing electrode. i am looking at the sti plugs though which are the r7433 or the STI T7359-8. That is the acutal part number of the plug. I am trying to work out what the difference between them and pfr6g is, apart from the heat range.

Im with Joe. 7's for me due to elevated boost levels. Then no dramas. 6's would be fine for more normalish, 'less modified' cars.

NGK R7433- *

[B]Center electrode = Iridium
Ground = Nickel Alloy

PFR6G

Center electrode = Platinum
Ground = Nickel palladium

PFR6B

Centre electrode = Platinum
Ground = Platinum chip

As requested, above is the only differences between all 3 of the plugs you wanted to know about it's all in the firing end materials used....I can't lay it out any simpler than that.

You pay $40 per plug for the R7xxx-x plugs because they are a group 3 low volume seller, simple as that.

As an NGK wholesaler I sell around 1000 ngk plugs a week,I can categorically tell you that NEITHER the PFR*B nor PFR*G plugs are RACING plugs....Period. There are no Platinum Racing plugs.

They are both long life Platinum plugs (60,000km intervals on stock turbo engines /100,000 on N/a's).

FFS Honda civics run the same plugs!!!....VTEC YO!!!

PFR6G

(The blue R on the body designates the plug as a resistor type)

Single platinum center electrode ^^ NOT a racing plug!!!

PFR6B (note the platinum chip on the ground electrode, as well as the center):

Here's some NGK racing plugs:

B9EGV = Gold Palladium fine center electrode

B9EG = fine wire nickel center electrode

G & GV plugs are supplied in RED NGK Racing boxes....Ask any Rotary enthusiast.

The other racing plugs are Ngk Iriway part numbers are IRXXX or $220 special application plugs.

I can do them for about $16.50 per plug....List is $26

*Should* have them on the shelf.....unless dealer did a stock order on Friday.

I'll do another GB for supporters in the next few weeks.

Thanks for that info. I have also found out that the materials used in the ceramic insulator are also different aswell, so sounds like they are worth the extra $$

Now i know you are saying that the pfr6g are not a racing plug but my catalouge at work says that they have a racing ground electrode. Im sure yours does too.

Anyway i think that i will see if i can source the ngk R7433 plugs, if not i will just get the set off subaru.

Cheers

Tom

So what's the difference between running cheap $5 plugs, platinum's or iridium's of the same heat range?
This may be of interest, all about plugs.
