Can you rev match when downshifting and get it into gear? If it just grinds slightly, you can use redline oil to hide the noise for a while.

I have not tried to rev match, i will give that a go tonight and see what happens. I currently have redline oil in the gearbox. It would be strange if 4th gear went, isn't it normally 2nd gear that goes first?
