Default Aircon hoses not fitting

Hi,

I recently bought a GC8. It has a EJ257 and I suspect the compressor came from the new engine. The pipes on the high part doesnt match up as the gc8 part is slightly smaller on the compressor side. Has anyone else had this problem? I was told by the aircon person that the 06 wrx pipe if it fits on the compressor side wont fit on the other side. I would have to get the 06 head welded onto the gc8 pipe to make it fit. This sounds dodgy to me, any suggestions?

thought there was a quick way around it. Its probably cheaper at this point to get a hybrid hose than the buy a new compressor.

Get a new hose made. If your welding or brazing isn't perfect then your are going to be losing your refrigerant.

Are you planning on recharging the system yourself or a shop to do? The system will also need a flush due to been opened to the environment as well

unless your a licensed A/C repairer, its illegal for you to modify or repair A/C systems. Fines run into the 10's of thousands and prison time. You wont be able to buy refrigerant anyway.
Think of the environment

What year GC8 is it?
There are 2 different sized pipes just between the GC8s that I know off.
Best bet would be to replace the compressor with one that suits the car.

ps, pretty sure I may have the right one here if your GC8 is 98 - 00.

Pretty sure the 257's had a different bracket set up, I remember Sam trying to fit an EJ257 compressor to his RS and it wouldn't fit, may have something to do with the TPG's or shape of the manifold.
You should be able to get new hoses made or possibly an adapter, go to one of the big industrial fitting shops and see what they can do, there is one in Malaga near MMS but can't think of their name.
