Why are the 2 liters better

Whats a nice turbo anyone can recommend either from using or reading up on
As teejay pointed out, 2.5 would make more torque sooner but would need extensive block prep if you plan on running large HP (think 350HP+)

2.0LSTI (207's) blocks/motors are generally favoured for rebuilds/conversions because they are proven to be very reliable. Even basic bolt ons similar to what you had on your my11 would result in a very quick street car (180-200kw), not as much torque but the point being you would be able to use it everyday knowing at least the engine would be ok.

I personally would go with what Wayne suggested, 207+ forgies + twinscroll, turn up the wick and as per my previous post, giggle like a school girl simply because again, it works every time. 200-220kw all day everyday.

As for how the 5spd will cope....well I dont even want to guess (some break, some dont....its like that )

1. 212 KW ATW with 15.5 PSI from a 2.5 WRX engine with those supporting mods sounds....ummm...interesting.

2. Nobody has mentioned the other factor involved in engine failures.... how the car is driven.

3. On a public forum such as this there will be all manner of replies which will serve just to confuse you further.

4. I would be talking to MMS about rebuild options.

5. If you're not keen on MMS then I'm sure ASG could offer some options.

Unless he swapped the oil for coles brand 4.99 special, emptied the coolant around and drove around on limiter forever... a brand new motor should be able to live with the duties of daily driving and even some track driving.

Rick was it stage 2 or stage 3 custom tune EcuTek. If it was stage 2 then i'd be pissed. NO workshop should sell Stage 2 EcuTek, let alone any EcuTek.

As far as your build goes even though it'll cost a little more coin, I would definitely look into the 2L. I built 2 Cosworth motors after my EcuShit original motor shit itself and both of those let go as well. If you plan to rebuild the 2.5 and take it easy then go for it, if you plan to rebuild your 2.5 and track it then budget for another motor as well.

Trust me!

What are you goals with the car?

1. Going to keep it for a couple of years as a daily driver and then offload to buy another car?
2. Turn it into a track weapon for epic skids?

If option 1, insert new EJ257/255 detune or retune and carry on. I would hate to explain to future car buyers why your car has less capacity then all the other ones for sale. Most knuckle heads will want more displacement. Also you will have to explain that you've already popped the motor, had to tune and have something different to the norm.

If option 2, go nuts... 2.7 sleeved, stocker, massive turbo yada yada.

Drop in a brand new 2.5 short motor, get it re-tuned with Verso, done.

I have to admit that this is all very disconcerting.

My 2.5 only has a better air filter and 3" dump pipe with OEM cat back zorst and with 213 HP ATH with well over "15.5 PSI" (VERSO by ASG)

How MMS got your 2.5 to 213 KW ATW with only 15.5 PSI regardless of the mods is a question I would be asking. I'd suggest it had a lot more boost than you've been informed / quoting.
