Default remote key locking reprogram

ive done a search on this fellas but found no answers..... i have 3 keys with my car; 1 bare spare key just to open the doors, 1 original subaru remote central locking key (only works by hand, have replaced battery but remote locking will not operate) and 1 aftermarket looking remote key that works perfectly. I had been informed you can reprogram the key yourself should it stop working...? is this the case or do i need subaru to do it? if so any ideas on the price?

stupid! comments like that are frowned upon in this forum, we much prefer derogatory comments based on one's car, gender, race, emoticons and hobbies.

Take it to a dealership, they should be able to have a quick look for you
